BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR), in coordination with the Cordillera Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (CRHRDC), Manila Health Tek Inc. and the University of the Philippines National Institute of Health (UP-NIH) showcased the Biotek-M Dengue Aqua Kit during the Techno Promo Day activity on September 19, 2019 at the Clubhouse, Venus Parkview Hotel.

The Biotek-M™ Dengue Aqua Kit is a diagnostic test developed by the UP-NIH funded by the DOST-Philippines Council on Health Research and Development, designed as a confirmatory test for diagnosis of dengue infection in the first 0-5 days of illness, and results would be known in an hour or less. This will be very helpful in making the early diagnosis of dengue so that prompt management can be done to prevent complications.

Designed to be used in hospitals or clinics with minimal laboratory facilities, using Biotek M would mean less admissions for dengue-suspected cases, therefore saving resources for both hospital and patients.

DOST – CAR Regional Director Dr. Nancy Bantog emphasized that this activity was conducted to promote science – based technologies including the BIOTEK-M Dengue Aqua Kit which can be adapted in the region in line with their mandate to bring science and technology as driver of progress in the Cordilleras.
